Out With the Carpet, In With the Custom Hardwood

We've said it before, but we can't say it enough times. We love all things flooring and we LOVE creating custom floors for our customers. This project was no exception!

Our customer had a carpet insert in their existing hardwood floor in their Great Room. They approached us when they decided it was time for something new. After meeting with them and learning what they hoped to achieve for the look and feel for the room, we came to the conclusion to remove their existing carpet and create an updated look with new hardwood floor in place of where the carpet was. Because our customer was used to having the center of the room be a feature with their old carpet, we decided to lay the new hardwood floor on a diagonal as well as stain it a different color to make it pop from what was already there. During the installation process, we had to accommodate the hardwood thickness that we installed in the center of the room so it would be the exact height as the existing hardwood floor. We achieved this by building up the subfloor and laying the wood on top of that (of course, ensuring it was an exact height match).

As we always hope, our customers (and their dog!) are very happy with their updated room. We helped another couple fall in love again... with their home!
